October 2005 - October 2006
This year-long installation features furniture and lighting fixtures designed by Greene & Greene Architects of Pasadena for the Long Beach homes of Jennie A. Reeve and Adelaide Tichenor. Architecturally distinguished and frequently used in the first decades of the 20th century for social and civic gatherings, the Tichenor home was proclaimed in a 1922 article in the Long Beach Press to be the “Show Place of Long Beach.”

Permanent Collection
The Museum's prized permanent collection includes approximately 5000 paintings, drawings, sculptures, works on paper, and decorative arts objects (furnishings and accessories). Particular strengths lie in 300 years of American decorative arts objects, early 20th century European art, California Modernism and contemporary art of California.

River of Destiny: The Life and Work of Binh Pho
Through March 4, 2007

The life story of contemporary sculptor Binh Pho is inextricably interwoven into the fabric of his work. Born in Vietnam, he was imprisoned by the Viet Cong and, after several failed attempts, escaped from his native country under heart-wrenching conditions. He later immigrated to this country, learned wood turning techniques and has quickly become one of the leading figures in the field of contemporary wood sculpture. River of Destiny: The Life and Work of Binh Pho collectively presents Pho’s life story as told through his exquisite artwork.
