Positions Available in Education and Curatorial Departments; Internships Generously Funded by the Getty Foundation

Long Beach, CA – The Long Beach Museum of Art (LBMA) is offering two paid internships for summer 2015. The internships, one in the curatorial department and the other in the education department, have been generously funded by the Getty Foundation. Full details, including job descriptions and application instructions, may be found on the Museum’s website at lbma.org/internships.

Aiming to encourage greater diversity in the professions related to museums and the visual arts, the Getty Foundation created the Multicultural Undergraduate Internship program in Los Angeles to support substantive, full-time summer work opportunities for students from cultural backgrounds that have traditionally been underrepresented in the arts. Since the program’s founding in 1993, 150 local arts institutions, as well as the Getty Center and the Getty Villa, have hosted 3,000 interns, exposing these individuals to career possibilities in the arts. The internships are intended specifically for currently enrolled undergraduates and recent graduates residing or attending college in Los Angeles County who are members of groups currently underrepresented in museums and visual arts organizations: individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, and Pacific Islander descent.

Internship applications for both positions are being accepted now through Wednesday, April 29. Completed applications must include: resume with a copy of course transcripts; statement of interest; application form; and two letters of recommendations. To apply please visit: lbma.org/internships.
