The hundreds of dedicated volunteers who help the Museum are crucial to our well-being! There are many ways to get involved and to contribute your time. Our Education Department is always on the look out for more docents in order to fulfill public demand for tours. If you are an artist, consider joining the Artist's Council. By volunteering with the Membership Department, you can share the joys of being a member with the general public. In addition, the Museum holds special events throughout the year that help raise money for our education and exhibitions programming.
To get started, fill out a Volunteer Application. You will receive a return email confirming your registration as a volunteer.
A Docent is a volunteer who provides educational services to the public for the Long Beach Museum of Art.
A Docent is associated with the Docent Council at the Long Beach Museum of Art. Docents receive training to work with school children, adult tour groups, visitors, families, and college classes. Not only are docents a vital asset to the museum, they are also experts on our permanent collection and special exhibitions. If you think you would enjoy teaching children about the fabulous world of art, consider becoming a docent.
For more information, visit our Docent page or email the museum. If you are interested in becoming a Docent, please submit the Docent application.
Registered Docents may now post hours worked at the museum.
