Bags & Baubles:
Luncheon and Silent Auction

Presented by LBMA and Phoenix - September 7, 2024

Bags and Baubles is a biennial fundraising event, consisting of a luncheon with an ocean view, and a silent auction that features new and gently used handbags and accessories. Funds raised through this event support the Long Beach Museum of Art exhibitions and education programs, such as school programs, teacher professional development workshops, student exhibitions, and other programs for the Long Beach community.

KidsVisions is the Museum’s largest education program, providing all 5000 Long Beach Unified School District fifth-grade students with arts education through free annual field trips to the Museum. Each student receives a pre-visit orientation with LBMA educators, free transportation to the Museum, a docent-led gallery tour, an artmaking workshop, and free passes to return to the Museum with their families.

65% of student participants will be first-time museum visitors. Field trips immerse students in a rich learning environment using visual arts as a tool for social-emotional learning and providing a safe space where students practice creative and critical thinking.

The Museum develops resources through foundation and corporate grants and community contributors each year to cover 100% of KidsVisions costs. Transportation is a critical component of the program, as transportation costs are the most significant obstacle for teachers when bringing students on field trips.
