Cataloging Assistant

The Long Beach Museum of Art received a Museums for America Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services for a three-year project to create and maintain digital assets focusing on the Institution’s permanent collection of works by women artists in California. The project will provide public access to nearly 70 years of artistic output by California women from 1950 to present thereby increasing its visibility and appreciation.

The Cataloging Assistant is an essential member of the project team as well as a member of the Registrar staff. The Cataloging Assistant is responsible for researching biographical and contextual information on all artists and artworks by women; entering data into the Museum’s collection management database; coordinating quality control of those electronic records; assisting with photography of the collection; and researching and obtaining copyright permissions.

This is a part-time, two-year position.
