2025 Summer Internship: The Getty Marrow Undergraduate Internship Program
Internship Description
The Getty Marrow Collections Intern will actively contribute to the Curatorial department’s ongoing work, gaining hands-on experience in collection care, exhibition development, and registrar tasks. Working closely with the Registrar and Collections Manager, the intern will assist in processing new acquisitions for the permanent collection, including a recent gift of over 200 contemporary artworks across various media.
Responsibilities include photographing, measuring, condition reporting, packing, assigning accession numbers and locations, and updating the collections management database, EmbARK. Additionally, the intern will collaborate with the Lead Preparator and Preparatory team on the deinstallation and installation of exhibitions at LBMA Downtown, the Museum’s second art campus in Long Beach’s arts district.
Before the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have the opportunity to curate and install a small exhibition drawn from the permanent collection in the historic Elizabeth Milbank Anderson House on the Museum campus.
This is a temporary position, 40 hours per week, for a maximum of 10 weeks. The individual will receive a gross salary for their ten-week internship. The intern will work closely with the Registrar and Collections Manager and have access to a personal computer and printer.
Eligibility Requirements
The internship is intended for an individual, including, but not limited to, an individual of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander descent. The intern must also be a currently enrolled undergraduate and have completed at least one semester of college by June 2025. The intern must be a resident of or attend college in Los Angeles County. The internship will take place during a consecutive ten-week period beginning no sooner than June 2, 2025 and ending no later than August 8, 2025.
