Become a Docent

LBMA Docents are an enthusiastic group committed to sharing their love of art with Museum visitors. Working closely with the Education Department, Docents focus on leading educational tours of Museum exhibitions, as well as assisting in art education workshops. Docents are also encouraged to participate in LBMA special fundraising events held once a year in support of Museum education and exhibition programs.

Our Docents enjoy the benefit of participating in a variety of art related activities, such as artist talks, regular meetings, and art tours throughout Southern California. LBMA encourages you to join the LBMA community as a Docent  ̶  no prior art experience is required. For more information on the LBMA Docent program, please fill out the LBMA Docent Application.

COVID-19 Update: Temporary Closure

The Long Beach Museum of Art, including LBMA Downtown and Claire’s at the Museum will temporarily close to the public, effective this Thursday, March 19.

The closure is a proactive measure to protect the health of the Museum’s visitors, staff, volunteers, and neighbors in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

We will continue to provide inspiring creative content online, so please continue to stay in touch and follow along on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. LBMA will continue to work with the city of Long Beach to monitor the situation and will notify you immediately of any updates.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Long Beach Museum of Art at the earliest safe opportunity.
