Dance Under the Stars With Live Music, DJ, and Experience the Museum’s Newest Exhibition Vitality & Verve: Transforming The Urban Landscape

Long Beach, CA – The Long Beach Museum of Art will host its summer LBMA After Dark event on Friday, June 26 from 7pm – 10 pm. The event will feature DJ Rodi (Rodi Delgadillo), owner of Soulific Records and cofounder of the “good foot,” spinning records for a dance party under the stars, live music including performances by Kristi Ticerhurst and the POW! WOW! School of Music, and refreshments provided by the museum’s restaurant Claire’s at the Museum. Moreover, the outdoor activities will also feature a hookah lounge courtesy of So Cal Hookahs and exhibition sponsor Montana Cans will offer samples of their acrylic paint markers for attendees to try out on paper and/or mini canvases.

General Admission price is $10 but the event is free for anyone who purchases a museum membership by June 25. New museum members can also bring one guest to the event. In addition, they will receive a free swag bag that includes a one-time only 25% certificate to Claire’s at the Museum and a private reception invitation to the museum’s most ambitious exhibition entitled Vitality & Verve: Transforming The Urban Landscape. The private reception will be held on June 26 from 5pm-7pm.

The exhibition will consist of 60 pieces, including 19 murals painted exclusively inside on the walls of the Museum’s Hartman Pavilion. It is one of the first exhibitions in North America by a major institution to open its doors to new urban and contemporary artists, inviting them to transform the museum walls with ephemeral murals and multi-media installations.

LBMA After Dark continues to be one of our most popular events of the year and this particular one we are expecting it to be the biggest yet in regard to attendance,” said Ron Nelson, executive director of the Long Beach Museum of Art. “We want everyone who attends to experience this wonderful new exhibition where we have literally bared our walls to show murals and paintings created by some of the top international contemporary artists working in their field.”

The Museum is now selling event tickets online via its website. Attendees to the event are strongly encouraged to take public transportation to and from the Museum. All guests who use their bicycles as transportation will receive a free drink coupon to be used at the event. For more information, including purchasing a membership, please visit the museum’s LBMA After Dark page at lbma.org/afterdark.
