The Long Beach Museum of Art held its biennial Art Auction XVIII on Sunday, May 5 at 4 pm in the Hartman Pavilion and Galleries. Organized by the Museum and its fundraising affiliate Phoenix, the 18th edition of Art Auction celebrated LBMA’s mission, supporting exhibition and education programming with contributors and artists who donated in support of the highly anticipated event.  Together with their fundraising affiliate, LBMA raised over $200,000. This was made possible by today’s leading contemporary artists who generously donated to the museum. LBMA shared proceeds with the artists. The roster featured renowned artist Young-Il Ahn, whose 35-year retrospective, When Sky Meets Water was exhibited at the Museum in 2017, as well as Laddie John Dill and Jon Swihart, who have long affiliations with the Museum. Art Auction XVIII provided audiences a dynamic platform for discovering, exploring, and acquiring artwork, we were pleased to welcome both seasoned collectors, as well as emerging art enthusiasts who hold an interest in collecting original work.
