If you are interested in the book arts, photography, printing, and contemporary fiction, don't miss this free presentation co-sponsored by the Museum with the California Chapter of the Guild of Book Workers. Jeff Atherton is Assistant Professor in the School of Art and CSULB. He earned his MFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Atherton has created a large-scale, multi-volume artist's book with 66 silver gelatin photographs toned with selenium and accompanied by a book of commentaries on a "lost play" which are written in the voice of an anonymous European writing between the two World Wars. The binding is wire-edge by Daniel Kelm and Atherton printed the book at Bieler Press, Los Angeles on mould-made Somerset Velvet pages. Don't miss this opportunity to see his ambitious book up close, and then enjoy the exhibition Masterworks: Defining a New Narrative and stay for lunch at Claire's at the Museum restaurant.
