Life, Uninterrupted: Still Life
August 23, 2012 – December 30, 2012 • All Day -
Still life still has life! This selection of traditional and contemporary still life paintings and drawings are paired with three-dimensional sculpture and ceramics. The placement of the paintings and the adjacent sculptures create their own still life arrangements within the Museum's gallery. Many media and many approaches to still life are included in this exhibition selected from the permanent collection and ranging from early-twentieth century to the present day. Included are a 1945 still life in pastel and charcoal by Hans Burkhardt; a stunning large painting Unacknowledged Messengers, 1981 by Andrew Wilf, a haunting sculpture Twin Gifts by Margaret Honda, and a colorful ceramic, Habitat by Craig Clifford.
