TREE
June 14, 2013 – February 23, 2014 • All Day -
TREE includes a selection of paintings, works on paper, and wood from the Museum’s permanent collection augmented with generous private loans to the exhibition. In all cultures, artists’ depictions of trees may convey moods, set a scene for a narrative, or, are symbols used to describe strength, stability, and shelter, among other ideas. In today’s world, the value of trees is increasingly recognized as a significant part of the world’s ecosystem that contributes to its environmental health. Each of the selections in TREE has been chosen from around the nation, and indeed from around the world, for the meditative and aesthetic experiences that they provide.
